Local Government Wind Energy Program

Working with our county planning offices, STC provided a Wind Energy Local Government Support Program through 2009.  Its purpose was to assist local officials and their constituents through outreach and education, and technical assistance.  Teaming up with Cornell Cooperative Extension of Schuyler County, a series of Wind Resources and Wind Viewshed Maps were created.  These display the landscape that is visible from sensitive land uses such as municipal parks and facilities, cemeteries and other places fo public assembly as identified by community leaders. See the Documents list below for the maps.

In 2010, STC will continue to post wind regulations adopted by municipalities in the region as they become available. CLICK HERE to see a map of wind resources in the region and which communities have regulations. The regulations are listed in the box below.  If you are aware of a later version of a wind regulation, please provide us a copy and we'll be happy to post it.
