Regional Poverty Analysis

Poverty rates are typically higher in urban areas. 

 

 

Much of STCRPDB's region, particularly in Steuben County have poverty levels above the 2008 national average of 13.2%.  New York State's 2008 average poverty level was 14.2%.  While New York State was successful in lowering the poverty level in 1999 from 16.7% to 14.2%, The percentage of those living below the poverty level in New York State has stayed stagnant since.
